Renting vs. Buying seems like the ultimate real estate debate. I found myself the subject of this very question just a short while ago. Our lease was coming due and we were unsure: Was it the right time to buy? Or, should we continue to rent?

Jill Biggs from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offered to help me find the best fit. Check out the segment, which aired first on NBC’s LXTV Open House, where Jill shows me two properties in the Hoboken area–one for purchase and one for rent.

The lesson I ultimately learned is that it all comes down to what is right for you and your particular situation. You need to consider financial aspects like whether you have enough for a down payment and lifestyle aspects like how long you expect to stay in the home. The answer is different for every individual.
