As our Chief Executive Officer Jim Gillespie often says on TV, homeownership is something that a vast majority of Americans aspire to. In fact, in a recent Coldwell Banker survey on the American Dream of Homeownership, we learned that 83% of renters agree that they want to own a home someday. With that said, many people, including myself, are in life stages that necessitate renting.

Knowing that owning a home and being on your own is a serious responsibility on multiple fronts, I personally wanted to dip my toes in the water and get oriented to the “real world” before I’d graduate to buying my first home. Besides, I felt like I needed to learn how to cook for myself first before signing off on my own mortgage! So once I finished school and began my career, I moved out of my parents’ house and have been renting and saving up for my own home over the last few years.
