Mets Pitcher Dillon Gee Gets New Take on Home in Manhattan

From Texas to the Big Apple, Dillon Gee knows home is wherever his loved ones are.

“Home is wherever we are at.” That’s the statement that stands out as this video with New York Mets pitcher, Dillon Gee, introduces us to the people that make it home more so than the actual dwelling.

Today, Dillon Gee returns to the mound for the New York Mets after spending an extended stint on the disabled list where we can assume he was spending a good amount of time in his home we’re about to explore. Gee is originally from Texas and as many a baseball player before him, he’s moved quite a bit. But Gee has found a home in the Big Apple as this year he was the Opening Day starter for the New York Mets and appears to be a consistent performer in what has been an inconsistent starting rotation.

What I like about Gee is he chose a home that many players from outside the New York City metro area often avoid. He wanted to live in Manhattan. Even in this series of Coldwell Banker Home Field Advantage videos, we’ve seen a number of players play in one city but chose to live somewhere else. For the Gee family, they took the attitude that life is short so why not experience what it’s like to live in the greatest city in the world.  Of course a new baby boy just added to the experience as they now balance life among the hustle and bustle of Manhattan with raising a child.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a die-hard Mets fan. While Dillon Gee isn’t Tom Seaver or Doc Gooden, he’s the type of player that is perfect for the Mets. He’s unwavering, humble and just goes about his business. With the media attention and scrutiny of every pitch by a New York team, that’s the type of personality and attitude you love to see from a player and I think that really comes through in this video.
