The Masters and a Home for Golf

The Masters. When I read that phrase I can hear Jim Nantz saying, “It’s a tradition unlike any other.” The green jacket, the beautiful course, Amen corner and all the wonder that comes with The Masters is back for another amazing run in 2012 and we at Coldwell Banker Real Estate wanted to how big of a role golf plays in showcasing a home for sale.

Let’s look at some stats from coldwellbanker.com:

  • Currently there are 17,122 homes that talk about “golf” in the property description.
  • 1,526 homes mention being on or near the “fairway” which is a place my golf game rarely finds
  • There are 1,047 “eagles,” 244 “pars,” and only 4 “bogeys”
  • A “caddy” is highlighted in 12 homes
  • 4 homes reside on “Mulligan Drive” which for me is very appropriate as I wish I could take a mulligan on most of my drives
  • 103 homes refer to the “PGA”
  • And sadly, no homes mention “Amen corner” or “green jacket”

It’s pretty obvious that homes located near golf courses or that feature some kind of golf-related amenity are a pretty important selling point. However, any serious golfer knows that the most important part of your golf game is putting. So why not own a home with your own putting green? Here are three homes that feature their own private putting green for you to hone your game:

78370 Coyote Canyon Ct, La Quinta, CAThis $4.9 million property is worth every penny. Not only does it have it’s own professionally styled putting green, but your basketball game can be improved as well on it’s indoor basketball court. And if you really want to enjoy The Masters, you can watch it on the 16 ft (yes, feet) HD TV with surround sound system. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in La Quinta, CA has the listing.
6683 E Judson Road, Paradise Valley, AZThere’s a reason it’s called Paradise Valley and this home certainly feels like paradise. This 5 bedroom, 8 bathroom resort-esque home has a putting green right next to what could be the greatest backyard ever. It features a pool, outdoor kitchen and a yard large enough to play a football game. Coldwell Banker agent, Chris Perez, has the home listed for just under $4.5 million.
14 Rivers Edge Dr, Colts Neck, NJPutting greens aren’t just for those on the West Coast. Moving closer to my neck of the woods this $1.99 million home for sale in Colts Neck, NJ also features its own private putting green along with a tennis court and basketball court. This home also has a fully stocked gym with the latest equipment for improving the distance of your drives. It also features a generator for electric backup so even if the power goes out, you’ll still be able to see every minute of The Masters this weekend.

So which home with a putting green would you most like to live in? Cast your vote and share your favorite golf and real estate related features in the comments.
