A Frighteningly Fun Halloween Home
A Halloween house of horrors located on Baldwin Terrace in Wayne, NJ.
Five years ago David Allegra and Robert Richardson were living in a condo in Hoboken. As fans of Halloween they always enjoyed putting up decorations but never had the opportunity to go “all out” because they didn’t have a big enough property. That all changed when they moved into their home in Wayne, NJ.
During their first year on the block they was delighted by the Halloween spirit the neighborhood had. This wasn’t the typical street where home porches were decorated with mums and pumpkins. Their neighbors put out full displays with tombstones, ghosts, ghouls and lights. They instantly caught the Halloween bug and joined in on the fun.
What started as a few tombstones and “ground breakers” (skeletons creeping out of the lawn) has turned into one of the most whimsical and exciting Halloween displays in the state and attracts over 350 trick or treaters a year.
Check out this video showcasing homemade decorations, amazing details and my personal favorite, their ghoulish band lovingly named The Dead Beats. After watching you will understand why David and Robert start decorating by the 3rd week of September.
I couldn’t help discussing the Coldwell Banker Value of a Home campaign with David. As we talked about the emotional tie that homeowners have with their home and community David gave his insight into what role Halloween plays in the value of his home. “Halloween was a gateway into meeting people in our community. We share a common passion with our neighbors and it has enabled us to become an integral part of our neighborhood. We have parents driving by with their children as early as August to see if we have started to build our display and that makes us feel really good. We also enjoy seeing the delight of new neighbors who are just seeing our display for the first time. You just can’t put a price on that feeling and we wouldn’t have this opportunity had we not moved into this home.”
David and Robert’s house of horrors is located on Baldwin Terrace in Wayne, NJ. They invite our readers that live nearby to come visit their home to see this spooktacular display. Can’t make it? Scroll through the pictures above!
